The Matterhorn mountain peak in the Swiss Alps has been lit with the Indian tricolor flag as a tribute to Solidarity

The Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter has been lighting up the 4,478-meter mountain with flags of different countries. The artist has been lighting up the mountain peak as a part of the nightly series. This act is just to provide strength to all the nations who have been fighting the Covid19 pandemic. Gerry has been showing this act since the end of May 2020.

The Matterhorn peak was lit up with a 1000 meter Indian tricolor flag just to spread the message that Switzerland ( swiss ) stands in solidarity with India. The message of hope and empathy was extremely valuable.

The mountain Matterhorn is a mountain of the Alps and straddles between Switzerland and Italy. The mountain overlooks the Swiss town of Zermatt.

On their official Facebook page, the tourism organisation Zermatt Matterhorn wrote: “As one of the most populous countries in the world, India is suffering from the Corona crisis. The challenges in such a large country are immense. The Indian flag on the Matterhorn is intended to express our solidarity and give hope and strength to all Indians.”

Our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also tweeted the picture and said that humanity will surely overcome this pandemic.

Now, India has also been affected by CoronaVirus. The challenges that are in front of us are immense. During these times the kind of gesture and support that is being showered upon us really means a lot.

In India the death toll has risen up to 480 this morning. 14, 378 people have been infected so far. This is the reason our government has extended the Lockdown up to 3rd May 2020 so that we are able to stem the CoronaVirus pandemic.
